We're all going to die in a couple of months. 'They' know it, but 'they' don't want 'us' to panic.

Would be interesting if it were true, don't you think?

Nope. My passport lasts until 2014. So it can't be true.
Rejoice, one of my cards is valid till 2017, we're good to go for a while longer!

Well.

We'll find out for sure in a couple of months.

Somebody needs to start a countdown clock.

Unfortunately, Mr. Harold Camping of second coming fame is indisposed, and I don't care that much.

You do it.

Look, the Mayan long count down already started 5,126 years ago...

Well, the long count reflects many cycles (see the various circles) all superimposed on top of each other...

Also, the Maya demand an end to doomsday myth:

Experts say that for the Maya, all that ends in 2012 is one of their calendar cycles, not the world. Gomez's group issued a statement saying that the new Maya time cycle simply means there will be big changes on the personal, family and community level, so that there is harmony and balance between mankind and nature. Oxlajuj Ajpop is holding events it considers sacred in five cities to mark the event and Gomez said the Culture Ministry would be wise to throw its support behind their real celebrations.

My favorite scene was last year during a Gulf storm when the celebrity weatherman Jim Cantore was yapping on about how rough the sea was and how terrible the onshore flow was.... and then a group of people in shirtsleeves walked behind him along the surf line in shirtsleeves taking pictures.

Nobody mentioned this, so I will.

I guess adding another millennium or two to the calendar isn't as much fun as we're all gonna die!!!.

In addition to a still vibrant scene of a king and his retinue, the walls are rife with calculations that helped ancient scribes track vast amounts of time. Contrary to the idea the Maya predicted the end of the world in 2012, the markings suggest dates thousands of years in the future.

Well global Earth and climate changes still continue to intensify. Today a large 7.4 hit Guatemala and another strong NorEaster is hitting the USA East Coast right now...

There is nothing new or unusual about either event.

In fact, it was a Nor'easter that held the American's....

Washington’s weather in 1776

“The Delaware crossing became the third stroke of good fortune that partially salvaged an otherwise dismal year of defeats for Washington. Success in all three depended upon a familiar storm pattern on the East Coast—the three-day nor’easter. In March Washington had succeeded in getting the guns Henry Knox had dragged all the way from Ticonderoga to Dorchester Heights, where they commanded the British position in Boston. General Howe ordered an attack on the heights and began to send troops in transports when a fierce nor’easter set in and scattered the operation; the next day, with the storm still raging, Howe decided to evacuate Boston.

How many years have people thought the world was going to end. Didn't happen.

2012 is just the end of the Mayan calender and the start of a new one. Not the end of our planet.

And really... Do people expect the world to just combust ? just like that in a matter of hours?!? Surely we would have been seeing much more destructive things happening to our planet - and not just global warming.
