The Facebook Phone: It's Finally Real and Its Name Is Buffy

There are several phones out that have dedicated Facebook button, the HTC Status and the recently released Motokey Social. These two devices were marketed to have “a deep integration with Facebook” – basically giving you one-touch access to your Facebook account… but things could be getting deeper as the rumours of Facebook coming out with their own Android device are swirling once again.​

Facebook has over 350 million mobile users and they have always looked for ways to go beyond a simple app that people download, this time it’s a handset currently codenamed “Buffy”. Apparently Facebook might be teaming up with HTC to produce a “modified version of Android that Facebook has tweaked heavily to deeply integrate its services”. The rumour is that Buffy could launch within 12 to 18 months, but both companies declined to comment.​

A spokesman for Facebook stated that “Our mobile strategy is simple: We think every mobile device is better if it is deeply social. We’re working across the entire mobile industry; with operators, hardware manufacturers, OS providers, and application developers to bring powerful social experiences to more people around the world.”​

Meh.. I barely even use the Facebook app.. I usually go to the mobile version of their website from my phone's opera browser.

The app is very glitchy. Mobile version seems like the way to go.
