Journalist and presenter Evan Davies poses with a 3D printed model of himself at the "3D: printing the future exhibition at the Science Museum in London, Oct. 8, 2013.

Davies' model features his arm in a sling due to him being scanned in August 2013 whilst recovering from a broken wrist.

The exhibition features over 600 3D printed objects including replacement organs, artworks, aircraft parts and a handgun.

Very interesting and I wish I could go see the entire exhibition. :(

I've been following 3D printing for a while actually and I really love the idea of it. I hope I can get one in a couple of years when the price comes down.

Microsoft are already banking on the fact that 3D printers will become a household object as they've integrated 3D printing software into their latest windows 8.1.

If you're interested in that though I'd really recommend taking a look at Amanda Ghassaei who's tried to print LP records on a 3D printer, which they aren't too bad, but shows how it could breed a whole new scene for internet piracy.

As well as Cody Wilson who's trying to print a 3D firearm, including high capacity magazines for automatic rifles to show how they can be used to make untraceable high powered rifles that would cause devastating tragedies.

People could also start selling LP blueprints. That'd be pretty cool.
