Already seen it but I'll watch again on Netflix
Despite terrorist threats and a spur-of-the-moment digital release, The Interview has so far made $40 million from online and on-demand sales and rentals, Sony reports.
Currently, the movie is available on numerous streaming services, including Google Play, YouTube, Xbox Video, and iTunes, as well as on cable, satellite, and telecom providers. Additionally, a Blu-ray release is now in the works.
However, The Interview is about to get another bump. In its quarterly earnings letter, Netflix revealed that they will be streaming the movie in the U.S. and Canada starting Saturday, January 24th.
Interestingly, the letter notes that this will be an exclusive offering, which suggests the film may not be on other streaming services much longer. But given that sales are slowing down on those platforms, it's not that surprising The Interview is making the jump to Netflix.
