In just over a week, the Tropicana will close its doors forever. And sometime in the near future, the building will be imploded to make way for the Oakland A’s controversial new stadium. When the 35-acre lot is swept clean of debris, 66 years of history will go into the dustbin — although, as any recent visitor will tell you, decades of decay have already destroyed what’s left of the world-famous Tropicana.
