American Family News: Gotcha question shows they're 'grasping at straws'
The head of a pro-Israel ministry is pleased with how President Trump's pick for ambassador to the United Nations handled a Democrat's baited question during her confirmation hearing.
During questioning before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee earlier this week, Senator Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut) tried to score political points against "Trump's most visible advisor." "What do you think of Elon Musk doing two 'Heil Hitler' salutes last night at the president's televised rally," he asked Elise Stefanik (pictured above).
"No, Elon Musk did not do those salutes," Stefanik retorted. "That is simply not the case. To say so – the American people are smart; they see through it. They support Elon Musk. We are proud to be the country of such successful entrepreneurs. That is one of our greatest strengths as Americans."
Though she was not at that particular rally, she raised both of her arms and said she knows that Musk "loves to cheer" for the president. Musk himself has shrugged off the scrutiny about slapping his right hand over his heart and swinging it out straight ahead while thanking the crowd for helping elect President Trump.
Democrats "frankly … need better dirty tricks," he posted on X. "The 'everyone is Hitler' attack is sooo tired."
Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries, says Murphy's attack says more about the Left than Musk's outstretched hand says about the Right. "I am left without words," she tells AFN. "This is the bankruptcy of a political party. They're grasping at straws, and they're filled with hatred. What they don't understand is they have the hatred of an Adolf Hitler in their heart. It's just that their hatred is directed at conservatives and at Christians, and some of them have this hatred against Jews."
"That's what's so ironic," Markell continues. "You've got the Hamas wing of the Democrat Party – they're the ones who've got a Hitler problem."
She says Stefanik, who is looking forward to Musk's work in the Department of Government Efficiency, will do a great job as ambassador to the U.N.
