The Next Few years.

Well, on Thursday, i will be going to the city to a seminar for some courses i will most probably be applying for next year. If you are wondering what course it is, it's a Film and Television Production course, if all goes well i will have to sit the Basic Skills Assessment which is around 60 minutes long. The only thing i am really worried about is, the basic skills assessment is the minimum entry requirement, where some people will have higher entry requirements, but we will see. I'll let you know how it goes.

Coolness. What kind of questions are they going to ask on the test?

For the Basic Skill test it's just a bunch of questions about the basics of Numeracy and Literacy, apparently it's pretty easy.

So what is you goals from taking these sorts of classes?

Do you want to be an actor? director? producer? etc. etc.

I have been looking into being a Cinematographer (Cameras, Lights, Sets, etc), but in the future i would love to direct my own Independent Film, and maybe, if I'm lucky and it goes well more Independent Movies over the years.

What does a Cinematographer do actually?

Ive heard the term before but I dont know what it means.

Basically you just work with the filming and lighting crew, deciding different shot styles, operating the cameras, and making sure everything looks right.

So.. Do you think taking up photography as well would help you out in this career?

I was considering it yeah. But at the moment i will just be following this course at the moment, but i will still be doing some photography in my free time.

Good luck Griffin. My son, as you know, was in an independant film. It started with plays in college. He's gotten a part in a couple other independant films since then. And will be the assistant director in one soon. You never know where your classes might lead.
