This club is open to anybody who can relate to at least most of the following....

1. This Song:

2. You've got articles of clothing That You Still Wear that are older than the majority of the other Off Topixites.

3. When you go out to eat the waitress gives you the "senior discount" without asking if she should.

4. Salespeople in stores, when you can find one that is, automatically call you "sir" or "ma'am" or something, but call younger folks "dude" and things like thataway.

5. You've woke up in the morning feeling like you went 15 rounds with 'the champ', and all you did was go to that store in #4 yesterday.

What's your number 6 for the list?

I can relate to 4 and 5.

#6? Not sure. :|

Number 3 happens to me about half the time whenever I'm out with my wife and I take the check to go pay.

However, if my wife goes up to pay, they NEVER give her the senior discount.

And she is almost exactly ONE YEAR older than me. She just doesn't look it.

As for Smooth's #6

I can't agree more. If you can't "go out" before 20:00 hours, I ain't going.

Another one happened today.

"A Kid" complained that they had to drive a car that was 10 years old.

For the record, my van is only a couple of years younger than the 'youngster' that was doing the complaining. .. .... next year, it will be old enough to get its learner's permit!

And TO ME, it is still "my new van".

And it has more personality than they did too, but that's a different thread.

#6 The thought of an evening going out clubbing sounds like punishment instead of the good time it used to be..

I'm 25, and I feel that way already. I used to really enjoy nights out, but now it's just kind of dull. I can listen to shitty music and get drunk in my own home, for significantly less than it costs to go out.

And if I stay home I don't need to worry about overly-grabby 'gentlemen'.

7. It's only Tuesday and you're already wondering if you've got enough booze and sausages to get through this coming weekend without going to the store because just thinking about dealing with 'shopping' and all that entails gives you the Fantods.

*reads Doc's opening post*
#3 - Has happened to me a few times....
#4 - That's happened a few times...
#5 - That too....

*reads Smooth's post*
#6 - Similar experience: try staying up overnight during the Saturday/Sunday overnight of the 24 Hours race in Daytona...if you weren't tripping mentally the day after, you didn't party hard enough the night before. Now whenever I go to either the 24 Hours' (or the 12 Hrs. at Sebring) its' 'dear God, don't let me not run out of caffeine overnight'...:ohmy::ohmy::ohmy:

Welcome aboard.

I used to do "all nighters" on production night at the weekly newspapers, typesetting headlines and photo captions and that kind of thing.

But the last time I did one was covering the, I think it was, the 1996 general election for the radio station and the online service.

We had lots of coffee, booze, cola, fried chicken, pizza, cigars, and I did do it. I remember being down at the online service's base ops (a mobile home with a living room FULL of computers so I didn't have any delay getting the results online and could call into the station with updates). Staring at CNN and watching a text feed from the AP while the last returns came in from the west coast talking about making a side bet on some Senate race with my manager.

Now, hell with it. Tell me who won in the morning.
