Well, this has been interesting. I've been looking through some old family records and found some diaries of my grandmother (I was named after her)
My grandfather worked road construction and was gone from home a lot during the 50's and 60's when their kids were grown. Grandmother went and visited him.
Anyway, these diaries are the mundane things that Grandad did on the job and things that happened when Grandmother would come visit him. He'll write a bit, then she will....Examples
May 12, 1962--home today
May 18, 62--back to Vernon (name of a town where they were working) such a good time, but lots of rain
May 18--62--I'll be glad when this job is finished, if Princess hadn't come to visit I don't think I could have made it.
Yep, I never knew my grandad well, so I have no idea that he called grandmother Princess. It's sooo cute. He died in 1976, and from about 1969 on, he was in a nursing home--dementia.
I'm compiling the entire thing, then adding pictures. Going to make copies for my brother and sisters for Christmas. I'll probably post more stuff later as I run across something interesting.......
