....there's gotta be more under the curtain that meets the eye, right?

So to my fellow wrestling fans here (@Dead2009, @FallandPray and @PGen98) think there's more to the story of her going to Vaquer or are we getting worked up over nothing?

It's not that people are up in arms over her going to WWE instead of AEW....apparently she had a joint CMLL/NJPW show date where she was supposed to defend and drop the CMLL women's title because CMLL will let you go to the States if you get a bigger contract. Well she did and cancelled ALL of her bookings, including the joint date and it pissed both companies off because its this weekend.

I'd want to recheck that for a moment; from what I understand - and I spent a few hours reading/hearing as much as I could about the situation (including the linked items above(, I think the chain of events here goes like this...

(1) Stephanie Vaquer's contract with CMLL wrapped up sometime around the end of May (assuming a 30-day no compete) while she's still holding both their women's belt and New Japan's Strong Women's title
(2) Her and CMLL do a handshake deal to finish out her time in CMLL, including the aforementioned Forbidden Door with Mercedes Mone (which, to my surprise was a pretty decent match given the former Sasha Banks was never that good back in WWE)
(3) Sometime between Forbidden Door and July 120th when she announced her signing with WWE, what happened to make her walk out on those handshake-committed matches you spoke of above?

I dunno if she had a handshake deal beforehand but from what Ive read CMLL will let you out of a contract if you get a bigger money one in the States, so if there is a no compete down there it doesnt affect US companies. The only thing they wanted from her was to be on the joint show because both CMLL and NJPW were advertising her to be there and 5 days before the show she signed the WWE contract and they had to vacate the belt. So she was apparently still under contract when WWE reached out to her.
