He had always chewed things such as washing off the line and tissues. But when Barney the labrador began looking under the weather no one could have guessed it was a result of his latest meal ââ¬â 109 stones from a nearby beach.
Kim Woollard's chocolate labrador consumed the staggering number of pebbles during a walk on the beach in Kent.
The next day Barney began acting sluggish and was taken to the vet by Mrs Woollard, 52, who lives with her husband Andrew, 58, in Chessington, Surrey.
The vet found 79 pebbles in Barney's stomach and Mrs Woollard found 30 more in Barney's basket when she returned home. They had already passed through the dog's system.
Mrs Woollard, 52, who lives with husband Andrew, 58, a builder, in Chessington, Surrey, told the Daily Mail: We were absolutely astounded when we saw the x-ray and it showed why Barney was feeling under the weather.
No wonder he had been feeling sluggish when there were more than a hundred stones in his stomach.

Very lucky this dog is still alive. Can we all say irresponsible dog owner?
