Jeremy Clarkson has made a passionate plea urging the UK to open its doors to the migrants fleeing Libya and other North African countries who have been risking their lives crossing the ocean.
His comments come after a devastating incident saw a migrant boat capsize, killing 900 people.
Taking aim at those condemning the migrants, Clarkson said: ‘They are coming because they don’t want to have their heads cut off with a rusty kitchen knife. And here’s the thing: if we are human beings too, we should let them in.’
He added: ‘If your neighbors house burnt down, you wouldn’t tell him that your house was full.
‘Even if you neither liked nor trusted him very much, you’d make up the sofa bed and invite him to spend the night. Or is that just me?’
Clarkson’s refreshingly humane take on the situation is a far cry from Katie Hopkins, who has often tried to ally herself to the former Top Gear host and his views. She caused uproar recently by saying that she didn’t care if the migrants died.
