Thief with 101 convictions tells court he steals every day, court lets him go
A serial shoplifter has avoided jail for his 101st conviction – despite telling magistrates he steals every day.

Scott Caldwell had been out of prison for less than a month when he stole five bottles of alcohol from Waitrose in Wymondham, Norfolk, before returning four days later to steal a further eight.

And despite telling Norwich magistrates that he steals ‘every day’, he was spared jail – on the grounds that another spell in prison would not change his behaviour.

Magistrates gave him a 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and ordered him to pay an £80 victim surcharge.

Your thoughts on the court letting him go free?

Im starting to think if you steal you lose your hand. If you rape we cut it off. Etc, etc. Because the only thing that judge said was correct is another time in jail probably wouldn't change anything. So you put him in jail even longer until he is a old man.
