What do you think?

You can manipulate a guitar to sound however you want. Pendulum are prime example of this. Rob (singer/producer/multi instrumentalist) expressed this while being interviewed about their third album Immersion, some songs guitars didn't fit so they weren't used for the recording. He was asked how that effected the live show, his response was what I previously stated.

Quick back story, Pendulum were a drum and bass act who incorporated rock music, many songs were guitar driven. Should all make sense now.
