This yogurt ad featuring lesbian couple is causing a hoo-ha online

American yogurt company Chobani are causing a bit of a hoo-ha with their latest advert, due to the fact it features a lesbian couple.

The advert begins with a woman, in bed, eating a yogurt in a laughably seductive fashion. After scraping the pot clean (no, that’s not a euphemism), she tickles the foot of her bedfellow.

But as the camera pans round, her partner is revealed not to be a man, but a woman.


Unsurprisingly, opinion online is pretty split as to whether this is beautiful and wonderful, or the devil’s work.

Obviously some very angry people are very angry…

Youtuber spoiledsandi commented: ‘wow i just saw this on tv and my kid just asked me why she was lying with her, and at first i thought it was a man but now……thx now i have to explain this to a 4 year old.’

While someone going by the name dboze vaughn, said: ‘Well, I won’t be buying chobani anymore….This is disgusting…I don’t want to see it, and I don’t want it shoved in my kids’ faces either. We were watching tv when this ad came on. Chobani—what were you thinking?!!!!’

But on the flip side, the ad has also garnered much praise.

Someone going by the name Flying Cake Bomb, gushed: ‘I love this commercial, it’s a big leap to what looks like the LGBTA+ community. It’s small but big, thanks.’

While Thomas Kelly wrote: ‘I just saw this on TV! This honestly gives me hope for the future. Beautiful and sweet.’

Offensive? No. This is nothing more than another attempt of advertising a product in a controversial manner with an obvious intention to get a reaction from people, regardless of whether it's positive or negative, all cleverly designed to draw attention to the advertised product.
