Thoughts on burning flag as a means of protest?

Burning a flag in protest is disgraceful, it's meant purely to disrespect and that's exactly what it does. Burning it to dispose of it, that's another story, that's a respectful means of disposal, but any other reason for burning a flag is simply unacceptable.
