Renting a place can be a difficult task in places where there cost of housing is high. Are you open to splitting rent with another or do you prefer staying alone?

Sure I've had roommates in the past. I can be a source of drama, financial-strain and stress if you are living with someone who isn't responsible (which I have).

I've also had good roommates with no issues.

Its hard to find a good one but when you do its an ideal situation for both parties. You both get to live somewhere that might be a little nicer than you can afford alone. Or you could live in a not-so-nice place and you both can save up your money.

I definitely think it's a necessity if you have roommates.

I've had a few people come and stay with me for a little while and when they're not working and helping you with the bills, they're sucking up resources.

My rule of thumb is this: If they don't pay, they don't stay. Sorry, not sorry

Just out of hi-school one of my friends and I shared an apartment to save on rent and we both had pretty good jobs; pretty good for the time and our age. The idea was to save money and we were READY to cut loose from our parents; and, buying a house at the time was not EVEN in the picture. Worked very well in our case, but I sure would not consider sharing living space with a stranger or even acquaintance that I could not trust.

Sounds reasonable to me.

I sure would not consider sharing living space with a stranger or even acquaintance that I could not trust.
I know I cringe when I see "looking for a roommate" ads on facebook (or craigslist back in the day).

If anyone here has Netflix, watch this show:

I would be open to it if it was my only option to avoid living on the streets. I would have to share a place, though, with someone I trust who I know would pay their fair share.
