Should employers make their employee's sign in on paper or have some sort of electronic time clock where the employee's have to clock in? Or have nothing at all?

Having nothing really isn't an option, because you have to log hours for record keeping and proof, but I'd probably say electronic. Easier and wouldn't take as long to clock in/out. My dad is a store manager, and his employees clock in/out within a few seconds. Nothing hard, only hard part about it is remembering to clock out before you go lunch, because that's a big no-no. But, if you work the same number of hours each day and get off at the same time, not including people who are paid salary, then I could see the signing in/out on paper more so useful, because they'd only be using it once a day to say they were there and they're getting paid for being there that day. Otherwise, if you're on salary, as my dad is, he is just on the schedule and he shows up, but if he didn't show up for work, then the other managers would know about it and report him to the zone manager or something.

I had a time clock when I worked at a store. They would have us go home 5 or 10 minutes early a lot of the time. Those minutes add up. If you went home 10 minutes early everyday for a month. That would be about a days worth of pay you lost.

At my current job we just fill out a paper at the end of the month indicating what days we took off. If there is nothing, then we just sign the bottom of a blank form.

I don't see how it matters what system an employer uses. As long as the employees are happy and able to understand the system, it's fine whatever one is used.

I think time clocks are stupid. Its like saying that you dont trust the employee's, they could easily just write in their time. Also, dismissing everyone a few minutes early everyday is an easy way to cheat them out of money.

At my job, if I was dismissed a few minutes early, I would not be docked any amount of money. If I was a couple minutes late, I wouldn't be docked either. If I had to stay over a few minutes because I was having a bad day or just not working too fast, I wouldnt have to worry about getting in trouble for overtime. It all balances out in the end. They dont need to track every single second you are working.

I have a flex clock at work where you put you key in when you come in and leave.

I can come in and go when I chose, just as long as I go my hours for the week.
