Do you give tips when you go dine in a restaurant?

We always leave a tip for the waiter whenever we go out to a restaurant where you're supposed to tip the waiter. If the waiter was not all that great, we leave a standard 10 to 15 percent tip, however, if they were really good and extremely helpful, we usually leave a 20 percent tip.

I usually leave a tip unless I didnt get a good service.

One time the waitress was extremely rude so I left a penny on the table. Im sure thats more insulting than getting nothing. Lol..

Nor in Australia. Some restaurants will have a little container for tips, or you can leave some change when you give them the bill, but it's not like if you don't they'll hate you. If we've had great service then we'll leave a few dollars.

Well if you leave a tip in a container at the front counter, who gets the money? Not the waitress I bet.

I serve, and know what it's like.. Here in Canada you do not get automatic grat, therefore don't have to claim all of your tips porsay on your taxes.. On a bill though, 2% of our total sales is tipped out to cooks, dishwashers, bartenders, hosts, etc, and if you don't get that, it's out of your pocket. For good service, I give between 15-20%, and if it's just awful service, I don't feel bad not tipping, because I'm 17, been serving since I'm 15, and if I can do a better job that them, and this is what they are doing as an adult, something's wrong. But as a general rule, I usually leave at least 10%.

If the service isn't really good, I won't leave a tip, but I usually leave around 15%. Last week when I went to Chili's with my school, my principal told us to look at our receipt for the sales tax and double that - so we basically all left $2 - I left $3 because one of my friends only had $1.

Exactly, Sometimes i'll leave money if i see they've tried and are not slacking. But i make sure that it goes to them, Not unto some ''tip'' box that goes to the boss. If there is a tip box, I'll buy them a drink or w/e.

If its appauling service i won't make a scene, but i wouldn't be returning or anything else.
