Tougher punishments?

Is the court system too lenient on some crimes?

What crimes do you think should have tougher punishment? What should those punishments be and why?

Drunk/under the influence of a mind-altering substance driving laws need to be much, much harsher than they are now. So many people get away with one, two, three, four incidents before they get their license taken away, or even before they kill someone or kill themselves. It's ridiculous.

Rape
without any doubt whatsoever rape should be treated way harder that what it is.

Any crimes by police and government officials.

Those in positions of public trust should be hammered hard when they violate that trust.

Making false police reports, giving false testimony in court, lying when giving deposition, etc, all to get somebody else in trouble or have them sent to prison.

How about elected officials who sell influence and their votes, are caught, reprimanded, and allowed to stay in office?

i agree 100%...

it also retracts their abusive manners if they know that the outcome of getting caught is a tough punishment instead of nothing more of a slap-on-the-wrist in most cases...
