As a Paramedic there are several parts of my job that are tough. If I had to pick one it would be the senseless loss of life due to drinking and driving. Most of the fatalities are young people who had their whole life ahead of them. The other part of this is having to tell loved ones that their child did not make it.

OMG Thats' so sad. I couldn't do that. I'd be bawling my eyes out so much I wouldn't be able to say the words. Huge huge kudos to you Jazzy for doing such an important but difficult job.

Thank you Rapunzel. I just want to tell everyone reading this that I'm a very emotional person. I don't want you all to think that I'm not. There's times I have nightmares and sleepless nights knowing I couldn't do anything to save a life. For the younger members reading this, I beg you not to drink and drive. Please don't make a person like myself have to tell your parents you are gone.

*Sorry for the rant but if I can save one life from this happening then it makes me happy*

I totally understand Jazzy. As a mother that would be the most Godawful news I could ever receive. I don't know how parents could survive that.

I understand what drinking and driving can do to people. Unfortunately, some people of my age range (I'm 18 BTW) don't fully understand.

Correct, Dragon, because most young people have this feeling of immortality. They take risks because they feel nothing can happen to them. Sometimes nothing does happen to them when they drink and drive. They slam into innocent people and kill them instead of themselves. Just had that happen last week when a drunk teen slammed into a father of 4 young children who was only on his way home to his family. The father will never see his family again.

Just to clarify, it's not only teens it's all the people who decide to drink and drive. Most of the scenes I've responded to were, however, teens.

Erhm, getting out of bed?

Also, Jazzy, that feeling of immortality, isn't that a hormonal thingy?

Dealing with needy / demanding staff members. Dealing with people who are never happy and will complain on me no matter what I do..

Dealing with annoying people.

Dealing with egotistical providers, triaging emergent symptoms, especially when we get suicidal idealization calls, dealing with angry patients when you can't change the health care system (or insurance).
