Hobbies such as stamp collecting, train spotting and model making are dying out, a study has revealed.
Researchers found the quintessential British pastimes are now considered 'boring' or 'for anoraks'.
Other hobbies which modern kids turn their noses up at include collecting marbles, completing jigsaws and constructing train sets.
Instead youngsters now count 'watching television', 'playing computer games' or 'Facebooking', as their 'hobby'.
The trend emerged in a study of 1,000 adults and 1,000 children aged between 11 and 18… now we are not sure how they got the kids off Facebook for long enough to answer the question either.
Researchers examined the changing face of pastimes typically enjoyed by teenagers 30 or more years ago compared to modern day teens.
They found the likes of rambling, bird watching and sticker collecting are all but dead and buried.
It emerged just one in twenty youngsters enjoys model aircraft making, compared to one in six in the 1970s. And only ONE per cent of teenagers now collects stickers, while a quarter did so 40 years ago.
Half of kids said they found old hobbies are 'boring' or just 'weird'.
Instead eight in ten youngsters count watching television as their main interest, while two thirds play computer games and 58 per cent log onto Facebook.
A spokesman for the Army Cadets, which commissioned the study, said: "It would be a shame if simple pleasures like collecting marbles and looking at birds through binoculars became a thing of the past.
"These used to be staple childhood activities and part of the adventure of growing up, but now they're being replaced altogether with new pursuits."
What do you think? Do you still enjoy any of those old school hobbies or are you all tech oriented these days? What are some of your tech hobbies?
