According to the Taiwanese arm of US Polytron Technologies, the transparent handset will go into production this year following six years of development.
Made of conductive glass, the see-through phone is ultra lightweight and is said to have almost as much functionality as a contemporary smartphone.
Touch activated on one side but displaying images on both, the handset does contain some non-transparent parts such as the battery. However, these components have all been pushed to the margins.
With a screen 0.3 inches bigger than Apple's iPhone 5, Polytron Technologies mobile is also 25 per cent lighter.
Korean phone manufacturer have previously released a handset with a see-through keypad but the Polytron Technologies device is unique in its transparency.
No precise details of availability or pricing have been given, but developers have said the toughened glass handset will be cheaper than the iPhone 5.

That's really weird.
I'm impressed.
