Trayvon Juror: Zimmerman Got Away With Murder

A juror in the George Zimmerman trial has said he "got away with murder" over the killing of Trayvon Martin.

The only ethnic-minority member of the jury - identified as juror B29 - told ABC she felt she owed the teenager's parents an apology.

But she said the all-female jury had to return verdict of not guilty based on the evidence available and Florida law.

"You can't put the man in jail even though in our hearts we felt he was guilty," said the woman, who allowed her face to be shown but only used her first name, Maddy, out of fears for her safety.

"But we had to grab our hearts and put it aside and look at the evidence.

"George Zimmerman got away with murder, but you can't get away from God. And at the end of the day, he's going to have a lot of questions and answers he has to deal with. The law couldn't prove it."

Although he admitted shooting and killing the unarmed 17-year-old, Mr Zimmerman insisted he was acting in self-defence.

Maddy said: "That's where I felt confused, where if a person kills someone, then you get charged for it.

"But as the law was read to me, if you have no proof that he killed him intentionally, you can't say he's guilty."

She said she felt the case against 28-year-old Mr Zimmerman should not have gone to trial.

"I felt like this was a publicity stunt," she said.

The juror, who is a mother, added that she felt like she had let the teenager's parents down.
