What are your thoughts on trust? Do you trust anyone? If so, who? Or... Do you trust NO ONE?

Trust is something I only give to people I've known for some time, and during that time, they've given me no reason not to trust them; therefore, I trust them until/unless they break my trust! Although, I must say I dislike when people I'm close to that simply don't trust me just because they don't trust people, even though I've never done anything for them not to trust me. And in some situations even though they don't trust me I trust them.

I trust my family a lot. I really only have one friend I can truly trust, and last but not least my girlfriend. All of the people I've mentioned have been there for me and I've been there for them, and I've never done anything to break their trust, and they've never done anything to break my trust. Now, I'm not saying there haven't been times where our trust was tested, but overall, I can honestly say I trust them with anything.

Trust doesn't come easy for me. I have been burnt so many times that I've lost count. It's happened to me not only in RL but also on forums. I used to be a very trusting person but after getting hurt by people I trusted, I'm very wary of who I now trust. You have to earn my trust as I'm not just going to give it to you. I have a few very close friends who I would trust with my life. They have all proved to me that they are there for me in good times and bad. I can tell them anything and know it will go no further and they will make no judgements.

I trust everyone... up till a certain point.

I actively maintain a decent amount of mystery

To some degree, Both.

I do 'trust' most people on the face of it to do things like to stop at a traffic light, to not cut in line at the post office, or to not steal my lunch box while I'm in a meeting. That sort of trust is more common courtesy than any statement about them as an individual.

But personal Trust, with a capital T for emphasis, is earned. And once betrayed, is even harder to earn back.
