This woman was apparently turned away from a bar after being told she was ‘too fat and ugly’.

Stacey Owen may have expected bouncers in Spinningfields, Manchester, to check whether she was dressed correctly but definitely not to determine if she was good looking enough to enter.

But that’s what reportedly happened when the 33-year-old turned up at Neighbourhood bar with friends on Saturday night.

Owen, a travel rep from Droylsden, said the group of three were held back while others were allowed into the trendy bar and were twice subjected to hurtful putdowns as doormen told them they wouldn’t be allowed in.

She now wants an apology.

‘I couldn’t believe what I’d just heard and asked him if he could say it again to make sure – he repeated “you’re too fat, you’re not getting in”, she said.

‘I know I’m not exactly a supermodel but I’ve never known anything like it in terms of customer service. We were so shocked we didn’t know what to do.’

Neighbourhood, on The Avenue North, has so far not responded to requests for comment.

Thoughts?

Yeah, these people need to be fired or reprimanded or something. She looks perfectly fine, and as far as the article tells me, there seems to be no legitimate reason for them to deny her entry to the bar. Ridiculous.

This sums up my opinion and I agree.

That's not right. They just crushed that whole woman's self esteem. I hope she understands that you can't be everything to everyone. Some may find you unattractive and others might think you're the most hot looking person in the world. Just because that's how most clubs are, it doesn't make it right.

Unless she recorded what was said, how's she going to prove it?

Good point.

However, if that's true, the bouncers should be fired. Its not part of their job to berate potential customers.
