BBC News: CIA torture report - US raises security ahead of release
Excerpt...
Security has been stepped up at US facilities around the world ahead of the release of a report expected to reveal details of harsh CIA interrogations, the White House says. Embassies and other sites were taking precautions amid "some indications" of "greater risk", a spokesman said.

A 480-page summary of the Senate report is due to be released on Tuesday. It is expected to detail the CIA's campaign against al-Qaeda in the aftermath of 9/11. As well as detailing the controversial methods used by CIA operatives in an effort to extract information from high-value suspects, the report is expected to say harsh interrogations failed to deliver appropriate results.

Publication of the report has been delayed amid disagreements in Washington over what should be made public. The full 6,000-page report, produced by the Senate Intelligence Committee, remains classified. The 480-page summary is being released by Democrats on the panel.

President Barack Obama halted the CIA interrogation programme when he took office in 2009, and has acknowledged that the methods used to question al-Qaeda prisoners amounted to torture.

During the presidency of George W Bush, the CIA operation against al-Qaeda - known internally as the Rendition, Detention and Interrogation - saw as many as 100 suspected terrorists held in "black sites" outside the US.

Any further questions about just how far the fine upstanding ranking members of the Democratic party will go to both embarrass and damage the country in the eyes of the world, put American lives overseas and at home at risk, and give our enemies even more material for recruiting posters?

I believe the term used in a book from another time was

In a sense, this reminds me of the Wikileaks scandal from a few years back...and people wonder why no one wants to work with the U.S. anymore? Well...would you, if you had to worry about being outed by Washington?

What a surprise possible political gain over the possible loss of innocent life.

the report is expected to say harsh interrogations failed to deliver appropriate results.

Since those interrogations brought down Bin Ladin and they care more about power then what actually happened I am not surprised about this so called report.

And I find it very telling the left will not release the dead pictures of Bin Ladin but will release something like this. Just more proof the left supports terrorist ideas more then they do traditional America.

Doesn't matter.

The majority of the Liberal Democrats in the US House and Senate have absolute hatred for the country that made most of them millionaires and that will guarantee them an income and good (not Obamacare) health insurance for the rest of their lives oozing from every pore on their body.

And THEY will never have to face the consequences of their actions in any of these matters.

Unlike the embassy staffs in many Middle Eastern countries that are now in fear for their lives.

...this was from last night's broadcast of The Kelly File if I'm not mistaken....I hate to think what's going to be said tonight. :| :|

3 or 4 former CIA directors have come out against that BS report from the democrats. This was two things from the left. First they lost big time in the election so they are going to slash and burn before they go and damn the lives they destroy or get killed because of it. Second this happening at the same time as the Gruber testimony is not a coincidence and they knew much more attention would be kept on this instead of the failures of Obama Care.

The Dems got what they wanted for Christmas.

The UN is now going to be involved.

UN Expert Calls For Prosecution Over U.S. Torture

GENEVA (AP) — Senior U.S. officials who authorized and carried out torture as part of former President George W. Bush's national security policy must be prosecuted, a top U.N. special investigator said Wednesday.

Ben Emmerson, the U.N.'s special rapporteur on counterterrorism and human rights, said in addition that all CIA and other U.S. officials who used waterboarding and other torture techniques must be prosecuted.

He said the Senate Intelligence Committee report on the CIA's harsh interrogation techniques at secret overseas facilities after the 9/11 terror attacks shows "there was a clear policy orchestrated at a high level within the Bush administration, which allowed to commit systematic crimes and gross violations of international human rights law."

Jon Stewart Plunges Head First Into The CIA Torture Report.

The CIA knew the torture report was going to be a big deal, that's why they released it just in time for Christmas! It's the "Frozen" of torture reports!

@Liberty: I don't think its' the Left that's keeping the photos of Bin Laden's corpse from being shown; that's more likely the military's decision not to release the photos on that point.
@Doc Leftover: Oh, they'll eventually face the consequences of their actions...it just won't be in this life, figuratively speaking.

Obama himself said he will never allow those photos to get out. Now obama could have gotten that advice from the military. I doubt it but anything is possible.

So not a single CIA agent or CIA leader was interviewed and the democrats cherry picked the tens of thousands of pages of info and Jon Stewart the good little leftist he is puts forth the narrative to the low information voters.

'Black site' countries outed in torture report aren't outraged. Why? (+video)

December 10, 2014

Washington — Before Tuesday’s release of the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report on the CIA’s post-9/11 interrogation practices, Obama administration officials argued for keeping the report under wraps, at least temporarily.

One key concern was that the report’s details could burn bridges with allies, in particular those that cooperated with the US by hosting “black sites” for terror suspect interrogation. American diplomats and service members overseas would be endangered, officials including Secretary of State John Kerry warned, and extraordinary security measures were ordered at embassies and other overseas facilities.

Another worry was that the report’s revelations of past misdeeds could dampen allies’ willingness to cooperate with the US now in the fight to “degrade and destroy” the Islamic State.

But none of the anticipated backlash has materialized, at least not so far. Social media around the world have indeed ignited with blasts at the US – including some calls from Islamist extremists adept at Internet propaganda for acts of revenge – while some international human rights advocates demanded prosecution of the perpetrators of the abuses detailed in the report.
