This one came up the other day when a friend was filling out one of those idiotic pre-employment screening tests.
Garrulous.
He had no idea what it meant, and he asked me. I'm not sure I'd ever seen that word out in the world before in my life. So I asked my wife. She'd heard of it, but wasn't sure what it meant.
So, my question was, as they were asking: "which of the following words is most similar in meaning to 'garrulous'", were they seeing who was fastest on their phones to look something up or were they really testing general knowledge and skills?
