A university has promised to refund its students half of their tuition fees if they fail to land a job within nine months of graduating.

The University of Law in Guildford is launching the new scheme for students on its Legal Practice Course from this September with the aim of ‘shaking up’ the legal training sector.

ULaw has committed to offering graduates up to £7,000 back if they don’t find employment within nine months of graduating.

ULaw’s CEO said today’s students wanted not just a degree but a guarantee that they would find employment.

‘For law graduates, this means one thing: securing a training contract or a full-time job upon graduation,’ he told Hellou.

‘Our experience in training highly-skilled law practitioners gives us the confidence and the assurance that our graduates will be in employment within nine months.’

Earlier this year, the University of West Scotland became one of the first institutions to look at introducing a rebate system for students who didn’t finish their degrees.

Professor Craig Mahoney, the UWS principal, said publicly-funded universities must adapt to compete with private providers’ increases.

Umm...Postpone travelling until you graduate, take 9 months off and get a 50% refund.
