Are certain sports unnecessarily rough?

Which ones are they?

Would you change them to make them more safe for the players or keep them as they are?

Unnecessarily rough? No, I don't think so, there are rough sports like Rugby, Aussie Rules or Hurling/Shinty, but I don't see them as being unnecessarily rough.

You could, but for most of them people would just lose interest, as their "brutality" is the reason they liked them in the first place.

Thats true and most of them get paid pretty well to take a beating, and they knew what they were getting into before they signed up for the job.

....Unless we're talking about recreational sports you do with your friends.
