What are some of the most unreasonable things you've been asked to do at work (or school)?

Transcripting newspaper articles. Did like 30 of them back in the 4th year of high school.

I didn't do it, but I was told by a ranking officer that it would "look better" if I did falsify the official documentation of an incident at the prison.

Did you?

I guess I overlooked that part. Oops

Did they make your life miserable because you refused to do it?

For a couple of weeks.

But the convict it was about took a plea to a lesser offense (disorderly conduct or such) and had all of his earned good time revoked instead of standing trial on assault on a correctional officer and adding a felony to his menu.

As I was involved in breaking up the fight, they wanted me to say that the inmate had intentionally punched me even after he knew I was a C/O as well as several of the others.

Here's something a lot of people don't know, a sizable number of inmates continue to break various laws even while in prison, and can end up adding a significant amount of time to their original sentence, even getting in enough trouble they end up with the "habitual offender" tag hung on their file and picking up a 20 to life bit, even if they just originally got locked up for 'simple possession' or a handful of traffic offenses.

Do you think they do it because they feel like they've got nothing to lose because they're already locked up?

In a few cases, maybe.

But I more suspect the idea that many simply do not believe that there are any rules that apply to them. Nobody ever held them responsible for their actions when they were younger, and now, as adults, they have no self control, and many simply do not have the intellectual ability to think through a given situation before they do something to see if the consequences will be positive or negative.
