How do you feel about video game remakes?

Are you for or against?

Are there any good examples?

If they're done well, they're fantastic. A chance for people to play older games they might have missed the first time around. If they're done as just a quick graphical upgrade and a cash grab? Nah, get rid of them. They're a disgrace. One I'm looking forward to, though...

Yeah, I like them if they’re done well. And not just like a port.

One example of good ones were the two Lunar games That were remade for PlayStation.

Well even the ones that are done well are just being done to get some cash. Video games are a business.
Yeah, but the good ones make it a game that's nice to play, the cash grab ones are just a rushed port that make you wonder why they bothered, except of course for the cash grab.

True, but ports can be fun for people who want to play a classic game on a new console or device.

I think they can be good depending on how they want to remake the game. For instance, I'm really enjoying the FFVII Remake because the game was released in such a different gaming generation. The graphics are so, so different, and now we get to see some things that the devs might've wanted to do in the first place, as well as what they've decided to change now.

As someone who had never owned a Nintendo console prior to getting my Switch I have been extremely happy with the games they have brought over to the system. So when they are done well they can be amazing. I have also enjoyed a lot of them on the PS4/5 too.

Haha, yeah, I have never owned one before. One of my friends had an N64 when I had a PSone though. But I have mostly just owned PlayStation consoles with the exception of my Atari Lynx I owned when I was young.

N64 was the best! Did you play it at their house all the time?

A fair bit until I got my PS2, then we would play that more. We were mostly playing multiplayer games. So the N64 emulator on Switch has a bunch of single player games I need to get around to playing. It was also on Switch that I properly played Super Mario 64 for the first time. I had only played the occasional level previously.
