Video gaming is a sport?

Video-Games aren't a sport, plain and simple, that isn't an insult but what I believe to be simply a fact to be stated. Personally, I believe video-games are above sports, however, that's merely a personal preference. Video-Games do require skills, fast hand movement, and eye coordination, however, there's a lot of things that require that. Those aren't the requirements to be a sport. Video-Games are more inline with books and movies as an artistic visualization of somebody's imagination. There's also the discussion of whether or not games are considered art. Which I believe is obviously yes, and the only wiggle room on that for me is that they are either art or above art because they have all the elements of a movie with an interactivity that allows you to experience an adventure.

Video games should be considered a recreation sport, just like horseshoes, bocce ball, and ladderball.
Example: Mario Kart Wii, with four different players (either teams of two players, or four individuals), is like motorsports, and should be treated like local racing on local race tracks, where you have qualifying, heats, and mains.

Honestly, neither chess or video games would be the first thing on my mind when thinking about sports. Call it whatever you like, but my first thought will still be related to physical exercise.

My stepson just finished third in a college level Fencing tournament, I believe in Epee. I don't think that is a 'game', but I've also never heard of a professional tour either.
