US adaptation of popular shonen Manga.

I know a lot of you don't really consider Manga to be real proper comics, but they are, and as such, this is news, Warner Brothers are in the process of securing the rights to produce a movie based on Tite Kubo's popular Bleach series. The Heat Vision Blog reports:

Warner Bros., already developing an adaptation of the manga Akira, is in the process of securing the movie rights to Bleach.

Peter Segal is in negotiations to produce, though not direct, the adaptation with Viz Media, the anime publishing house that releases the books in English in the U.S. Michael Ewing, Segal's partner at Callahan Filmworks, will also produce.

The story centers on a 15-year-old boy who has the ability to see ghosts and meets a female Soul Reaper, a member of an order that escorts the souls of the dead. A fight with an evil spirit causes the Reaper to transfer all her power to the boy, leaving her stranded in the human world and the boy taking over her job as a fighter of evil.

Bleach is actually pretty damn good for a shonen fight manga, some of the fights are epic in their brutality, and the main character Ichigo is cool. But when has a US movie version of a Manga ever worked? Dragon Ball Evolution anyone? But fingers crossed.

Interesting. Will check this out.

Wonder how well its going to be done.

The previews alone made me think that adaptation sucked. I still haven't even watched it yet either.
