Welfare makes people lazy because it allows them to get something for nothing. If people can get paid without working, they have no incentive to work in the first place.

Sort of. Sometimes, while I was on government assisted income, it was hard to get up and go looking for work. It wasn't so much laziness though, but rather just feeling a bit helpless. When you apply for a hundred jobs and don't hear back from any of them, it kinda wrecks your confidence to keep trying.

Of course it makes people lazy and dependent. And eventually they begin to feel they have some right to it. And then try to convince anyone who listens that somehow people are evil if they dont want to provide it under the force of a gun. when you provide a absolute that requires no sacrifice to get it on a constant basis it will make people expect to have it and depend on it all the time.

Saying that everyone is lazy because they are on welfare due to the bad apples is just like saying all humans are murderers because of the bad apples that murder...

You cannot class everyone the same when it's not accurate...

Medicare and Medicaid were one of the biggest boondoggles America has ever seen for starters making Bushes war and tarp combined look like change in my pocket in comparison with all the corruption and theft of countless lost money. It single handedly made American the most expensive in the world.

I think it can make people lazy, but there has to be some sort of existing laziness in that individual to make this half-true. No, not everyone on welfare is lazy. That is not the case at all; however, for some people, it is just another means not to go out and find work. Some people are legitimately unable to work due to disabilities, medical conditions (from birth, developed over time from disease or even from something that occurred at a previous job, and also from accidents).

It's ignorant to say that any handout from the government inherently makes people lazy. But rather it is better to say there are plenty of lazy people out there on welfare who are abusing the system.

No, they destroyed themselves, and it was the government and whites too... the economy and how the programs were set up and ran...

To solve the issue of welfare is to end it and restart it as a set up government job like program... where people that need assistance would work for the government, a job like program so instead of the government dishing out free money, the people are working for that money doing various jobs... that will make the people that are receiving moneys, at least they are working for the money until the find a job that pays more...

Welfare isn't what makes people lazy as welfare enables lazy people to be lazy and not starve. The whole let them starve logic if they don't work doesn't hold up well when children are involved. You have a group of people in a bad situation not of their own making(children) and in order to "punish" the adults for abusing welfare means punishing them as well. Is it better to "punish" the parent and the child along with them or would it be better to just accept the abuse by the adults for the sake of innocent children? There is the thought process that you can just remove the kids from the home but that doesn't really change anything as they(adults) are still mooching off of the government by way of having the state care for their children when they should be.

In the end, it all comes down to where your priorities are placed: On "punishing" the lazy or taking the abuse for the sake of the children involved who didn't choose their parents or their living arrangements? I would rather have people abuse the system if it means children don't starve if abuse of the system by adults with children occurs. It doesn't mean I like the fact people abuse the system but I care more about ensuring the children are taken care of more then I do preventing abuse of the welfare system.

Sure it does. People do a amazing thing when they realize the freebies are no longer coming and they and there children are in dire straits, they find work wherever they can and nothing is below there standards to feed loved ones. And why is it now everybody has been brainwashed and drunk a gallon of coolaid thinking government is our only solution to helping the unfortunate. That solution has created the screwed up country we have now. we really have to get past the insane idea if government doesnt help children will suffer.
