"What's the scariest thing you've ever done? Or another way to say it is, What's the most dangerous thing you've ever done... and why did you do it?"

For Chris Hadfield, the Canadian astronaut who asked those questions during a TED Talk delivered earlier this week in Vancouver, that moment happened inside a spacesuit.

Outside of the International Space Station on his very first spacewalk, Hadfield suddenly went blind in one eye... then the other... all while still outside the space station.

We'll let you enjoy the rest of the story yourself, including life lessons that are applicable even to those of us who aren't space explorers.
