What happens to senior citizens in your culture?

Are retirement homes common?

Or do older generations continue to live with their children?

Which is better?

Retirement homes are VERY common; I guess that fits well with the above comment.....there must be an awful lot of assholes in this culture.
Unfortunately it's not so simple, the average younger adult has to be away from home working.

A lot of people over 80 still have full time jobs here in New Zealand. A lot retire but get sick of retirement and just go into a completely different job. Lots become bus drivers.

After working in a primary care clinic, I have spoke to and about patients of all ages. Senior citizens vary just as much as middle-age or younger adults. Some are in care homes. Some are in SNF's. Some are in hospice or palliative care. I know of a patient who is 102 years old who manages on his own despite being deaf, but lives at his home and still has regular doctors appointments. They are spry and they are disabled. It really depends on each individuals situation.

I've seen some become bus drivers as said above. Some even may work at a job which isn't a bus driver too.

Not to be age-ist but an 80+ year old bus driver would make me a little nervous.
