Sometimes when my husband calls me, his mic doesn't work on his mobile phone. What could be the cause of that?

Is he doing the traditional hand to head phone call, or is he using some headset or his car?

If it’s the former, does the audio just straight up cut out? It’s either damaged (aka new phone), or he has some app that’s messing with it. I’d have him took at the settings and look at anything involving mic permissions and see what apps are using his mic.

Or, the cell tower is shitty. I’ve lived in places with weird cell service where it claims 4 bars, but it acts like half a bar.

I've had this issue with my iPhone. I've hung up, called back, and then everything is working fine again. Doesn't happen often, but it's probably happened two or three times since I got this particular phone, which was a few years ago.

If his mic works in other apps, you know something is wrong with permissions or as others mentioned it, some app or headset is messing with it, my headsets connects immediately after i open its dock..
