Do you prefer laid back type moderated / administrated forums or do you prefer strictly moderated / administrated forums.

It depends on the community. Some forums work better when they're laid back and relaxed on rules, and some need more strict policies. My board is really laid back about rules, and that works wonderfully for us. I think boards that are really large and/or have a young userbase need more strict guidelines.

I like a nice happy medium when it comes to forums. I don't like it being a practical free-for-all, but I don't like it being seriously strict either. There's got to be a good sized medium in this mix. The forum I run is actually a pretty-much laid-back community. The only thing we're strict on and put a lot of emphasize on are our forum advertisement section.

I join a forum to have fun and I prefer laid back type moderated / administrated forums.

I have been on what I call nazi moderated / administrated forums. These forums make members afraid to say or post anything. They hand out infractions left and right to members they don't like. Meanwhile, the members causing all the drama get away with it. Needless to say, I don't stay long on these types of forums.

I honestly believe that it depends on the community like people have said before. I think that you should be able too befriend your admins and staff but at the same time know that they are doing a job as well. I think that it should be a two way street

I hate strictly moderated forums. If I am new and a forum staffer gives me an infraction / warning for a simple mistake instead of giving me a courtesy PM, I usually get annoyed and turned off.

I prefer anarchisedlaid back forums, although I certainly would understand why there are some boards that are strict about their posting rules/policies. If it's laid back enough that there's actually engaging conversation but not too anarchisedlaid back that it feels like they can bend the rules then spamming then it seems like my kind of forum...

I like strict managment but the forum I am mostly on is very laid back and it causes some problems sometimes.

Definitely laid back. Forums should be a place to relax and be yourself. However, common sense and maturity shouldn't be neglected.
