When you buy things for your site, whether it be a graphic, posts, article, etc... do you pay up front? Or do you have the work done first and then pay?

I'd say it depends on the reputation of the individual I'm doing business with. If I'm a reputable member of a particular webmaster forum or marketplace, I don't necessarily believe I should need to pay first, especially if I'm paying someone whose reputation may be a little unknown.

It's not too often I buy anything for my forums as a lot of things I can do myself but if there is something I need, I tend to look at the reputation of the person I am dealing with and then decide whether I would feel safer paying upfront or after I see the work.

I know that the logo for my video game content creation which is also my avatar on most forums, was designed specifically for me as my brand and I paid after I had seen it finished but they showed me with watermarks so I could not take it and run, not that I would have done. Once I had paid, they sent me a copy without the watermarks.
