When your sink is clogged?

Liquid Plumber or a sink plunger

Depends if the water is going down slowly or if it's completely backed up. I don't mind digging in the pipes myself and taking each section apart.

Same here, its easy to unscrew them and put them back on.
I just had an instance a couple of weeks ago where I had to do just that and couldn't reach the clog, so maintenance had to come in and do it.

Ah I remember having maintenance people when I rented. No such luck anymore now that I own a house. I have to either figure it out myself or hire someone myself. I do have a home warranty that covers a lot of things too. When my A/C went out this summer it was a $800 repair and I just had to pay the $80 co-pay.

This is part of the reason why I don't want to own a home. I know I will never make enough money to afford the down payment/mortgage, but the upkeep as well.

Well like I said there is home warranties. Kind of like having a maintenance person I suppose. Although when I did use them I had to pay for the repair upfront and then wait a month or two for them to send me a reimbursement check.
