Or in other words, how do you explore/discover new music?

I used to do it by watching shows or movies, where they have great soundtrack, which usually introduces to new bands or singers.

Now that I don't watch a lot of shows or movies, I listen to online radio shows and follow music blogs, or simply follow people with cool music taste on social media.

How about you?

Like you, I've found a lot through movies and television.
But for me I'd also add video games to that too, the amount of good songs I've discovered thanks to radio stations in games like GTA is pretty crazy.

Recommendations from friends. One in particular I get a lot from.

But one of the biggest is Spotify. I use it so much that it's learned my taste pretty well (and my taste is all over the place) so every Monday when they release their personalized 'Discover Weekly' playlist full of recommendations just for you, I give it a listen and more often than not end up adding a significant chunk to my Liked Songs and then later I'll go back and dive into some of those artist's discography and find even more! It can be hit or miss but I'd say more often than not it really helps.

Oh yeah, I've heard some of my friends getting new music from GTA radio (is that what you call it? haha).

Oh man, I forgot about Spotify's Discover Weekly! They give me pretty good music, but idk they're not as good as they used to be. Either they now just give lame music/shit algorithm, or I now listen to sucky music. Probably the latter :P back then I would save every song I got from the Discover Weekly playlist. It was that good. Or maybe I just got bored of it.

GTA Radio works. :P Especially since in GTA V alone, there's 22 unique stations haha.

But dang that sucks. Even when mine feels a little off at first, it ends up having some good stuff. This week had a rough start and I had only like one or two songs then by the time I got to the end of the playlist there was a solid streak of like 10 songs that I really ended up liking. It is a little sensitive though, like if I listen to one country song all of a sudden a few will be in there despite it being one of my least listened to genres haha.

My partner shares his playlists with me and puts music on my phone so thats what I get all my music from. I can't be bothered to look for any myself. He has a good taste so its all good.

I heard a song on a TV commercial and looked it up. Found the group name and started listening to them on Pandora. From there, obviously, with Pandora, they play similar artists. So I get new music that way.

For K-POP, I recently got into, it's You Tube, because K-POP is not only music but most importantly visuals and performances, sometimes really exceptional. Thanks to that I also got to know many other incredibly good Korean singers and some rock bands.
For other music it's same as Daltonio, Spotify is really amazing in this matter.

I totally agree. I love YouTube Music for the fact that you can watch the music video as well. Like 'Black Swan' by BTS - great production for the video which totally does the song justice. Pandora is still my first go-to and then I end up on YouTube to see who I'm listening to.

Yeah thats one thing I never do, is look into the visuals. I don't watch music videos or anything like that. I am a fan of some musicians and bands and don't even know what they look like. :P

When I got into K-Pop, I was primarily on Pandora. Then I'd go on YouTube and watch who I liked from Pandora. I'm glad I did, because some of those people are amazing dancers!

Then you're a total opposite of me. I really love music videos as a form of art. Actually as an animator I'm even making some myself.
I loved collecting MVs when I was a teen, I could spend whole days sitting in front of TV recording them on video tapes. Now I'm back to this old hobby (thanks to K-POP), fortunately it's much easier these days :)
Of course not all good music has good videos, many artists can't afford it or just don't care. But it's very different for K-POP because it's not just a music genre, performances are integral part of it.
