what are your thoughts on this?

does that look like madness to you?

Something we can agree on. Yes it is madness and was never the intention from the founders for the federal government to take control of so much land. The states are supposed to be sovereign and under there own control. The only land the federal government should have needed is for the military.

I guess that it must be all historical, where the East was developed quickly with high immigration the western expansion was highly subsidized by the Federal Government which was very much involved in the military push into the West. I makes sense that they would of held onto important lands.

It is not like the States just woke up one day and were all there.

and if you think about it, the East was founded and owned by King George of England until it was taken from him by the Revolution so it never would have been owned by the Federal government anyway because there wasn't one.
