Do you own a whole house generator? With storms happening now throughout the US, maybe it's time to consider one if your power goes out often?

We used to own a portable generator, but I couldn't get it started, and it needed to be left outside...and we had to have fresh gas on hand to get it running. It was a pain during outages, but we brought it with us to the new house, which was stupid. We used it once and then ended up getting a whole house generator. My house has a well and septic that both rely on electricity, so having a system that automatically switched over was the smart move for us. We have to have yearly maintenance on it and today we're getting the oil changed which will be about $275. ow. But it's worth having it when the power goes out. Oh, and our entire house is not on it...just the necessities.
