Why did you start your forum or website?

I started mine because I have always been interested in books and writing and thought it would be cool open up a discussion forum to discuss it.

I saw a Donkey Kong announcement at E3 2010 and I eventually got a set of graphics that came from Nintendo themeselves, and goodness, were they of high quality. I also had an IPB license lying around, so why not?

But I didn't really get to get things done till I sold my forum.

For HTML madness!

The entire aspect of running a website always seemed to appeal to me, at first it was a website utilizing free webs but as days passed I began to notice forums, which is whenever I started a website utilizing Create Forum, which is generally a generic version of phpBB, but it got the job done. So at first it was for the coolness I felt a website had and also the ability to say I had one, now it's just because I like to share my opinion with others and like to see it grow.

I started Off Topix to reconnect with the communities from my deceased forums.

I started mine when I realized that RP gamers seemed to have such a nice community. I'm apart of a few and I noticed many people belonging to them say that they wish they had their own RPG forum but many not only didn't know how to make one, but couldn't put the time into running a whole board.

So I created my forum to hopefully bring together a wide variety of RPG gameing in one area where game creators and game players alike could come and have fun enjoying our games.

My friend and I started a forum just for the fun of it. We invited old friends and post there to catch up, laugh, and shoot the breeze. It's better than group email and since we don't do facebook, it serves as a connecting point.

It's not open to the public at this point because we prefer it that way. For now.

Good luck on your board, Wolfy. If I was into fiction, I'd join - but I'm stuck on non-fiction. G'day!

OH, PS - If your board is discussing The Shack ... I'm there. It's the first fiction book I've read in a long time and one of the best.

I've been working with social sites (forums) for a long time and think the original attraction was the diversity of community. You never know who would join, what they would contribute or what type of server/traffic issues would arise on a daily (hourly) basis.

Your global, hence a sponge for just about anything anywhere good or bad.
