Why is tesv: Skyrim successful to this day

Morrowind and Oblivion weren't popular? That's news to me. I find it hard to agree with you saying they weren't.

To answer your question with my opinion. Because Skyrim offers the player many options. Skyrim doesn't rail the player into one thing. You have the option of doing many things and Skyrim is a simulated environment. After Helgen you can pretty much choose your own destiny or how you feel you want to develop your character. I'd say Skyrim allows the player to customize their character in almost every way.

As I recall, Morrowind more-or-less saved Bethesda from bankruptcy. That seems fairly popular.

Still, it's true that Oblivion and Skyrim drew more people. Part of that's probably because every next game got a load of new players and a load of players from the previous game, y'know, fanbase growth.

Beyond that, advertising probably shouldn't be underestimated. As Beth got more money they could also put more into ads :dontknow:

Yet quality only goes down as the franchise continues... I don't get why this game is still popular, such a let down after Oblivion.

To my knowledge....every TES game that was released was popular.
