Ben and Rachel Kohnen were rushing to the hospital in central Iowa early Tuesday morning because Rachel was in labor with their fourth child. Ben admits it -- he was going at least 30 miles over the speed limit when they passed a police car.

"He starts following me and he turns on his lights and my wife says we can't pull over. The baby is coming now," he told NBC station WHO-TV.

"I did tell him not to stop," agreed Rachel Kohnen. "I think I was screaming, ' Oh dear God, we can't have the baby in the car.'"

The couple says they called 911, but that the dispatcher probably couldn't understand Rachel in between her contractions.

As they approached the Fort Dodge city limits, police set up a roadblock.

"They had thrown out the tire spikes and so all four tires, I run over those and all four tires go flat," said Ben Kohnen.

They claim officers ordered them to the ground at gunpoint until the Kohnens could explain the situation.

An hour later, Rachel delivered a healthy 10-pound girl named Hazel -- at the hospital.

Police say no charges have been filed in the incident.
