You comprehend that through the utilization of quoatation marks I'm implying that the referring of woman as second-class citizens was said by somebody else and not by me, don't you? It was a joke, it wasn't meant to be taken seriously, but it'd seem some of us aren't capable of differentiating a joke from a serious statement. What I was implying is that the possibility of being drafted isn't a possibility that I'd want poking in prodding on the back of my mind if I were a women. I meant no offense.

That wasn't misunderstanding, that was an observation of something said in poor taste.

I believe that it was an example of somebody taking something too seriously, and choosing that he's going to neglect the fact that it brought something significant into question. If the debate is regarding the concept of woman being seen as the second class citizens by the government than wouldn't they want for the people that they consider the second class citizens to be the ones being forced to risk their lives, because they aren't seen as valuable? Not something I believe, but I think that it should be address for the sake of the debate. In all honesty with you, whilst I don't deny the lack of ability shown in how to evolve by the goverment, I wouldn't be surprised if they are just oblivious or uncaring about the draft laws, America whilst stumbles harshly in numerous areas, has garnered a very commendable millitary, and the likelihood of there being a draft is on a downward spiral. Personally, I believe that the draft itself is an annoying concept, because I'll have to cut off my leg, but if they're going to have it than we should have it holding together all genders.



The school that I go to didn't have a female basketball team for the last couple of years, because there wasn't enough individuals to join, and the male basketball team wasn't doing very well. Eventually, as time elapsed, they made in a unisex basketball team, and the teams improved because they had more players, and some better players. There's power in numbers, and by not drafting females, one could feel that they're wasting more lives, because they compose themselves of some guys that will get themselves killed, and ignore some of the females that could actually accomplish something. I guess what I'm saying is that if you include females you'll double the amount of soldiers with the common-sense and ability to fight in a war and thus deplete the amount of lives put to waste. Once again though, I don't approve of the draft, and for the most part, I don't approve of war. I hope that I made sense because I kind of rambled.

What part exactly do you disagree with? The part about me cutting off my leg, the part about me saying that you take things too seriously, the part about through the addition of females, we could weed out the people that are going to get themselves killed, or the part about if they saw them as second-class, they'd probably have them be the one going to war? Let's try this another way, if I offended you, I'm sorry, I spoke out of line, and it wasn't my goal, but I don't think that should derail the discussion, forgive me?

I don't think anyone should ever be drafted for war. If the military was just doing the job of protecting this country instead of the rest of the planet then we would have more then enough soldiers willing to fight by their own choice. Then again, if the people sending our soldiers to war had any integrity then perhaps people wouldn't be so unwilling to draft themselves to war instead of being forced to war by a government that can't be bothered to be honest with the people on anything.

The sole point I was trying to raise is that 'equality' rings hollow if the burden of conscription in time of national emergency is shared equally.



Also, the idea of an all volunteer army being able to meet a challenge on the scale of World War Two is nonsense.

When it comes down to the final act, women are still deemed unequal to men in the US.

Women are not useful because they can bear children, it is because they can bear children which puts them on a different level. Women and children first after all, because they are the real backbone of a nation. You can't have a successful nation without women and children.



Though still I wouldn't say the field has been leveled, but women are not at a totally inadequate level than men. Some women today choose different career paths than they would have chosen 30 or 40 years ago. They go further in their education than men. In fact, the landscape shows that there are more women in colleges than men. More women as CEOs than ever before. They are the main breadwinners in some families.
