This morning I wanted to bring up a subject that I have seen everywhere on social media, and that's certain words and terms that have been said so frequently that I feel like they've lost their meaning. Terms like "bigot", "racist", "white supremacist" are usually used in regards to the assholes who target a certain race with their rhetoric online, or in person. But over the last decade or so, they've been thrown around so much as a means of finishing an argument, or deflecting from a conversation that the power these words have held are now gone. It can range from real life issues to topics like movies and gaming.

Certain examples being if you legitmately didn't like the all female Ghostbusters from a few years back, whether it be because of the writing or what not, you were labeled a misogynist. If you had legit concerns about the border, you were a "bigot" and a "nazi". Or if you had an opinion about anything that wasn't of your own race, you were a nazi. Do the people in 2024 truly understand what the nazis actually did? Or are we so obsessed with wanting to be right that no matter what is said, you're a nazi.

Sports is also another example of how words that once held power lost their meaning. I can recall a few years ago where a NBA team had a starting 5 that was all white, and people were quick to throw out there that management were racist because there was not one black man in that lineup....but then fail to realize that the NBA is predominantly black to start with.

At the end of the day, I've come to the conclusion that some people use these words as a way of saying "I don't like what you said", or "your opinion is wrong so you MUST be this word here". We're about to enter 2025, it's time for people to tell the difference between a legit concern/opinion and someone being a racist prick. It's time for people to tell the difference between someone being a troll, and someone legit hating you because your skin is a different color, or you're a different gender.

Also, this debate isn't meant to spark arguments, bashing and name calling. So please, keep it respectful. If you disagreed with anything I said, that's perfectly fine and you're well within your right to do so, but considering I touched on a sensitive subject, personal attacks against anyone will be deleted.
