A scorned store assistant has taken to Twitter after being sent home from work for wearing ‘too revealing’ shorts.

17-year-old Sylva Stoel from South Dakota, USA, was sent home from her job at department store JCPenney after her manager deemed her shorts inappropriate.

But here’s the thing – she’d bought them from the ‘career’ clothing section of that store. Go figure.

Taking to Twitter, Sylva (who clearly gives zero f*cks), posted a picture of herself in the outfit flipping the bird, before writing: ‘He asked how long it’d take for me to go home & change. I said “idk probably the whole day” I’m not coming back’

A spokesperson for JCPenney told People: ‘JCPenney’s dress code policy for store associates prohibits the wearing of shorts of any length. This policy applies to both male and female associates. We have reached out to the associate who blogged about this policy, but she has not returned our telephone calls thus far.’

However Sylva claimed she’d never heard this rule before, and told People: ‘They never said ‘no shorts’ at orientation. I never even got a handbook or anything. The manager was asked, and she said, no tank tops, spaghetti straps, absolutely no denim, and no T-shirts. And when asked for clarification she said, nothing that you’re falling out of.’

You probably won’t be surprised to hear she’s not working there any more.

In your opinion: Are these shorts too revealing?

I don't think the shorts are too revealing. I do, however, think she looks like she's going to the beach instead of to work. The outfit is cute but very unprofessional business attire. Surprised her boss didn't say something about her choice of footwear too.

I agree. A formal suit is always the better option for jobs like that.

At Walmart we weren't allowed to wear shorts and skirts had to be a dollar width from the knee.

You are only allowed to wear shorts at Wal-mart if you work outside such as the garden center or pushing carts out in the parking lot due to the heat. As for inside the store, blue or white collared shirts worn under a vest they provide you and black denim or khaki pants are what can be worn. It's honestly not asking much as the clothes can be worn outside of work so it's not like you can't wear them elsewhere.

While I don't see anything wrong with what she was wearing but if their dress code says no shorts then it doesn't matter what anyone thinks as their dress code is law within their store for their workers. If you don't like it then go work somewhere else.

Personally, I wouldn't mind being served by a female employee dressed like that. :whistles:

I tried to cheat by wearing skorts lol, before any manager told me to go home, my neighbor who worked there said I should change when we went home for break one night.

Oh she doesn't like being told what to do? I guess she'll never have a job ever again, then. :P

Sylva Stoel: Suck up your pride and go home to change. You didn't know the rules? You know them now, follow them and move on.

sort of person that wears the shorts (and takes selfies/posts them) for the attention yet as soon as any one makes a comment she would scream sexual harrasment

I think the manager is full of shit and was just looking for an excuse.
